Inhalt (Klappentext, Orbit)
I didn't realize he was a werewolf at first.
My nose isn't at its best when surrounded by axle grease and burnt oil ...
Mercedes Thompson runs a garage in the Tri-Cities. She's a mechanic, and a damn good one, who spends her spare time karate training and tinkering with a VW bus that happens to belong to a vampire. Her next-door neighbour is an alpha werewolf - literally, the leader of the pack. And Mercy herself is a shapeshifter, sister to coyotes. As such, she's tolerated by the 'wolves but definitely down the pecking order. As long as she keeps her eyes down and remembers her place, the pack will leave her in peace.
Hardly a normal situation, but then, Mercy Thompson is not exactly normal herself...and her connection to the world of things that go bump in the night is about to get her into a whole lot of trouble.
Meinung
In Moon Called it goes, as the title suggests, primarily about werewolves, but other characters such as vampires and witches are introduced (and then in subsequent volumes closer to them to respond). The book reads almost by itself, just a fun fantasy novel as they are currently thrown in heaps on the market. Surprising twists and great new features you may expect, of course, although the main character at first seemed quite promising. Mercy is a form-walker, which is in a coyote can change. This gives it indeed had a nose, but not super powers. Somehow awakened the way in which Mercy was shown, but the image of a housewife who finally wants "more", and decides to write a fantasy novel, where they packed all their frustration in the heroine. Auto mechanic, tough self-confident, can say nothing of men, and yet it is all somehow not quite convincing.
What was particularly annoying still is the fact Mercy's former boss that originally comes from German-speaking and German einwirft now and expressions. As Briggs has studied German, I understand not, however, why these German phrases and words are sometimes so flawed.
Overall, the whole thing was not quite mature, but I do see potential.
